Together with the design collective platform, the Goethe-Institut Jordan has initiated the takween programme; a programme designed to support young designers and creative entrepreneurs in Jordan through various learning opportunities to build networks, establish cooperation and become creative together.

Takween takes a sustainable approach to further education and training for designers and consists of various modules.

During a four-month learning programme, interested creative professionals from the fields of fashion, product, interior, furniture and graphic design can participate in the modules of design research, writing and storytelling, photo production and branding, creative entrepreneurship, product development and prototyping.

A range of scholarships for production, participation in trade fairs abroad and internships offer a selected group of designers the opportunity to develop their ideas and get their start-ups off the ground. A newly created Creative Space in the Jabal Amman district offers a perfect working atmosphere for this purpose.

The residency program offers four selected designers the opportunity to participate in the qualification programme and receive individual advice from local and international mentors. The participants receive start-up grants to develop their innovative start-up ideas and subsequently implement them successfully.

In addition, the Train-The-Trainer programme offers creative professionals the opportunity to develop their moderation, evaluation and creative mentoring skills.

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and the Goethe-Institut promote the emerging market of cultural and creative industries in Africa and in the Middle East.
