Reinhold Otto Mayer Award

The Reinhold Otto Mayer Award with a remuneration of € 50,000 is awarded biennially for an outstanding musical work within the area of the performing arts, in particular music theatre and drama. The remuneration will be paid indirectly, on the basis of and with a preliminary conclusion of contract as well as the herewith proper completion of two orders of commission by the Junge Oper Stuttgart. According to the foundation’s statutes, the aim is to promote and initiate new German-language works. For each award ceremony, the Reinhold Otto Mayer Foundation cooperates with a new partner to jointly draw up the call for tender and to jointly realize the award-winning piece of work’s world premiere.
