Berlin
International Max Rostal Competition

Every three years Berlin’s Universität der Künste (University of the Arts) holds the International Max Rostal Competition, established in 1991 by the eponymous violinist and teacher himself. Unlike many a conventional competition, it gives young artists an opportunity to demonstrate various facets of their musical proficiency in a demanding programme. Under the artistic direction of Hartmut Rohde, the 2009 competitions for violin and viola will be held concurrently for the first time since the competition began.
