Das Lied – International Song Competition started in February 2009 in Berlin under the artistic direction of baritone Thomas Quasthoff and will be exclusively devoted to the performance of Lieder. From 2017 on, the competition will take place in the Liedstadt Heidelberg and will be part of the Lied-Academy, an initative of the festival Heidelberger Frühling.
