Edith-Ruß-Haus für Medienkunst, Oldenburg
The aim of the Haus für Medienkunst (Edith Russ Site for Media Art) in Oldenburg is to enable artists to work with socially relevant, future-orientated themes using new media. It was founded in 1993 according to Edith Maria Ruß’s initiative, which was to set up a forum for “art for the transition into the twentieth century”.
Today the Edith-Ruß-Haus für Medienkunst, which has extensive exhibition space and four guest apartments, provides a place in which innovative ideas can be produced, presented and discussed in workshops and presentation series. One of the target groups for the media art scholarships, for which applications are invited annually, is artists who work with sound, sound installations and electro-acoustic phenomena.
