More than 400 artists from around 35 countries have been guests of the Künstlerhäuser Worpswede (Worpswede Artists’ Residences) since it was founded in 1971. Worpswede is a village near Bremen. The village became famous through the artists who took up residence here at the end of the 19th century: Heinrich Vogeler, Otto Modersohn, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Rainer Maria Rilke and Clara Rilke-Westhoff. The State of Lower Saxony awards grants, which may be combined with a residency in Worpswede, to professional artists in the fields of fine arts, literature and music.

- Grants are awarded for a total of up to €12,000 and for up to 12 months’ duration.
Duration:
- While on a grant, the recipient may spend two months at the Martin Kausche Atelier in Worpswede.
