The Künstlerdorf (Artists’ Village) Schöppingen near the Dutch border supports international authors and fine arts scholars with residential scholarships, of which 15 awards are made each year for each discipline. In addition, one international composition scholarship per year was recently introduced in the field of experimental music. In the estates – which are subject to a protection order – there are apartments and studio flats available for the artists, as well as function rooms, a gallery and workshops. The Artists’ Village provides and interdisciplinary platform for cooperation, with regular readings, workshops and art exhibitions.
