Since its founding in 1986, the Künstlerhaus Lauenburg has developed from a local funding agency for the fine arts to an important art funding institution in Schleswig-Holstein and is receiving great attention in German-speaking countries as well as internationally. The main aim of the Künstlerhaus Lauenburg is to promote contemporary visual artists, authors and composers through scholarships, exhibition and work opportunities in the house, which acquire innovative positions in the field of contemporary art, literature and music. For this purpose, Künstlerhaus Lauenburg annually awards three half-year scholarships in the field of visual arts and two three-month scholarships for literature and composition. In the rest of the time it has work, living and exhibition space for artists.
