Service

On its website goethe.de/libraries the Goethe-Institut provides compact information on current topics and trends, in-depth background stories as well as portraits of German libraries and information facilities. In addition, the portal offers an overview of the worldwide projects of the Goethe-Institut’s Information and Library Division.

Furthermore, there are topic-related portals for children’s and young adult literature and German-language magazines and newspapers, and the blog rosinenpicker@goethe.de.

Topics, content and structures of library work are constantly further developing. Professional dialogue and international cooperation are therefore indispensable. The Goethe-Institut offers librarians the opportunity to enter into an international dialogue with other professionals through financial and administrative support. In cooperation with the commission Bibliothek & Information International (BII) of the umbrella organization Bibliothek & Information Deutschland (BID), participation in study trips and international conferences is promoted and professional visits to libraries abroad are supported.

The 92 libraries of the Goethe-Instituts are open to the public and offer specialized media and information.
